Get Out and Stay Out

NIGHT THING
P. McLAUGHLIN/B. LA BOUNTY

in a sill up on a window in a real old kind of crack
in a home that's not a home like you'd think
they kept it comin back
two months of sayin nothin tryin to change the whole world
with wind-blown paper down on the floor
somebody find my girl

i'm a fool for it tryin to do the right thing
went to school for it i don't want no uptight thing
like a mule for it i'm working on my night thing

caught her leanin on the table she seems extremely way down
her kinfolk would know the way that i'm feelin
somebody tell the town
i'm pickin up something i don't know i'm kinda had about that
forget to check on your code-a-phone baby
don't even feed your cat
i'm a fool for it i'm tryin to do the right thing
get me cool for it don t you know that's frightening got a rule for it got to do the night thing
i'm spendin my money look out baby
i'm not too funny and i'm not too lazy
to call up a little woman to rotate my tires
got to find a little woman somebody to cross my wires
i'm a fool for it tryin to do the night thing got the fuel for it tryin to do the right thing
if you're cool for it won't you be my night thing

DAYS RUN TOGETHER
P. McLAUGHLIN

it's that krell monkey feelin you can feel it in the air you know the feelin kinda like your girl ain't there it's the constant runnin up and down the road
it's runnin through my heart
how the days run together when you and me are so far apart
twice in the kitchen you were standin in your robe twice in the kitchen once more on the floor there were so many things that i tried to say i don't know where to start
cause the days run together when you and me are so far apart
i remember five dollars that you loaned me when we were back at the school i remember five dollars that you loaned me when we were back at the school don't make me say yo don't make me say yo
that's the hardest part
you know the days run together when you and me are so far apart

it's the same old plan but you name's been engraved in blue you know my way girl of learnin my lesson

I CRIED
P. McLAUGHLIN/B. KENNER

like a little bitty baby cause i couldn't think of nothin to do
i cried
like that little old lady when she found out that she lived in a shoe i cried
there's a mojo workin in the sky above
tellin me something about this thing called love
felt a little bit used but you sure were looking happy at bat
i cried
just a little confusing couldn't figure exactly where you were at
I cried
there's only so much lovin in your lovin cup i got the feeling we were using it up i don't know why i tried
don't you see how you lied so i cried
like a little bitty baby cause i couldn't think of nothin to do
i cried
like that little old lady when she found out that she lived in a shoe i cried
there's only so much lovin in your lovin cup i got the feeling we were using it up
you know it started out weekly when you came to moan
now it looks like we'll be living alone i don't know why you lied
when you know how i tried so i cried

P. McLAUGHLIN

i always thought the west was colder

if they can cut down trees now baby they can cut down you
i'm gonna go out where tomorrow we're gonna talk too much
i hope that i'm not scarin tomorrow what i want so much

i want you for lunch
if they can cut down trees now baby if they can cut right through
if they can cut down trees now baby they can cut down you
one time on a big jet plane
one time on the moon
if they can cut down trees now baby if they can cut right through
if they can cut down trees now baby they can cut down you

THE CRAZE
P. McLAUGHLIN

i come home late last night
pretty much like i always do
just to find my lady with another man
they were up on the kitchen table doing a brand new dance
i couldn't figure the mood they were in the music put me in a spin
they said they had heard all about the craze the radio was sending out the wave all day
so i shot on through straight for my telephone i called my doctor wasn't no one home i called my sister she was out for the night
then i called the convent they said come on over it's out of sight
we're getting stoned drinking gin
livin in sin i think your dog is here
boy you're sounding like you ain't heard
the radio been sending out the word all day
so i ran full speed for my car
i wasn't making no bones about it i was headed for the border
guess i was movin too fast to read the sign
I didn't even stop to say hello or good-bye to the man there standing on the line the road was winding the night was black i thought for a minute that i might go back then out of the sky come a big bright light said boy you're on your own and its all right
